But the microclimate of Anchor Bay makes this stretch of sand a sunny oasis in the pea soup. Just an hour south of Mendocino and hidden among the redwoods, this south-facing beach is protected from the winds and makes you feel like you’re in a paradise at the edge of the earth.

The Islands Of The Bahamas
Posted by Bianca Kellaway on April 10, 2012The islands of the Bahamas offer American travelers a close-by Caribbean destination that is anything you want it to be - a 24/7 party, an outdoor adventure, or simply a chance to unplug and get away from it all.
Although it is an archipelago comprised of hundreds of islands and cays with pink sand beaches and crystal clear waters, there are three main ones that are popular with tourists: Grand Bahama, New Providence (home to its capital, Nassau) and Paradise Island. It should be noted that as it’s a British Commonwealth, you’ll need to make sure you pack your passport (and your MINX bikini!).
